The love of architecture and a deep legacy of marriage were at the core of Kayla and Tom’s downtown Cincinnati wedding. Sophisticated, elegant details with a flare of art deco complimented Hotel Netherlands’s historic architecture as the backdrop of their big day.
Stepping into the bridal suite, joy and excitement filled the air. Kayla’s classic, A line dress hung on display, showcasing the modern, oversize bow train and flowing veil. In the next room, Kayla’s life-long hair stylist, her Mother, was meticulously styling her daughter’s hair in a classic, bun updo. The bridesmaids slipped into their green, velvet dresses, preparing to see Kayla as a beaming, bride ready to meet her groom. The happy tears began flowing as Kayla’s Mother and bridesmaids saw her ready to walk down the aisle.
As Tom and Kayla read handwritten vows in front of family and friends, their ceremony revealed the strong, family legacy of life-long marriages they were building upon. Together, they combined soil from each of their grandparents’ properties to pour into their unity tree, representing the foundation of strong commitment they were inheriting as a couple. Guests gained a deeper understanding of one of their grandparent’s commitment to each other as Tom’s Father read aloud a poem Tom’s Grandfather wrote for his Grandmother years ago. The foundation Tom and Kayla’s grandparents laid was carried on by their parents – between Tom and Kayla’s parents, they have celebrated over 60 years of marriage!
As the ceremony wound down and guests enjoyed cocktail hour, Kayla’s parents had a surprise waiting just outside the hotel for the newlyweds – a blue, 1965 Impala. The fully restored Impala by Kayla’s Father has been a staple in many of Kayla’s life milestones. With a 70 degree day in March, it was the perfect weather to ensure the class Impala was part of Kayla and Tom’s wedding day!
With the sun set over downtown Cincinnati, cocktail hour transitioned to the Continental Room at Hotel Netherlands. Speeches from the Maid of Honor and Best Men had the perfect mix of sentimental and funny stories, including a few excerpts from Kayla’s childhood diary read by her sister and Maid of Honor.
It is hard to put into words the amount of love, joy and support surrounding Kayla and Tom. From the legacies their grandparents and parents created to their friends walking through life with them, there is no shortage of love for these newlyweds.
