Brand Image Design For Catering Services

As a brand photographer, I get to work with some amazing businesses. I especially loved getting to rub shoulders with Hudson’s Edge as I strategized and captured brand image design for their business. Here are a few items I consider as a photographer when I capture your brand photos that you can take into your next branding session.

What is Brand Image Design?

Before you can strategize and create a brand image design, you need to understand what it is. Your brand image has less to do with you and more to do with your audience’s view of you. A consumer’s interpretation of your business, services, and products is your brand image. So, to shape your brand image into how you want to be perceived you must consider your audience’s experiences and interactions with your business.

This is where market research becomes a vital part of your branding. If you can come into your branding photoshoot with this knowledge in your back pocket, it will become a lot easier to cater to your audience, as well as build the brand image you want your audience to have.

How We Incorporated Brand Image Design With Hudson’s Edge

Hudson’s Edge is a catering company in Columbus that values affordability and quality ingredients. This farm-to-table-based business is known for its customizable menus, family-centered values, and professional service. We wanted to incorporate all of these attributes into their branding photos. Here is how we did it, as an example of how to incorporate thoughtful brand image design.

Quality Ingredients

A huge part of brand image design for catering services is displaying the quality and craftsmanship of the food. To do so, I captured the ingredients before and during the chef’s preparation. Showing the different stages of ingredients becoming a dish also tells a story within the brand photos.

Farm To Table

Farm-to-table is a valuable movement in the catering world. It supports locally grown crop while connecting consumers with fresh ingredients. This is a value we want to display as much as possible! However, that can be a challenge unless you catch the delivery truck coming in. So, to incorporate farm-to-table into their brand image, I was sure to photograph products from specific local vendors.

Family-Centered Values

There are so many ways to show family-centered values in brand photos! The key is to capture unity, warmth, and personality. These are traits of togetherness and family that help tell the story of your brand. Here are few ideas:

  • photograph the founders/owners with their family
  • team photos
  • behind the scene photos of team members working together
  • use warm and welcoming environments for branding photos
  • embrace authentic moments

Professional Service

The best way to capture professional service in brand photos is to photograph behind the scenes. Hudson’s Edge is an excellent example of professional behavior and service from the kitchen to the dining room. Everyone in their team worked respectfully at all times, so it was easy to capture this value for their brand image.
