Backyard Wedding | Katie & Logan

A change in mall security policy is the unlikely event that sparked the beginning of Katie and Logan’s story.  Logan, working mall security, first introduced himself to Katie per a new security policy while she was an Assistant Manager at Yankee Candle.  Logan took the policy a step further by continuing to pop into Yankee Candle when Katie was working to check in and chat.

As timing would have it, it wasn’t long after the two started to form a friendship that Katie was re-locating to Columbus, Ohio. With over two hours between them, they continued to build on their friendship through skype and phone calls. Logan eventually worked up the nerve and asked Katie on a date to the Columbus Art Museum – one of their favorite activities as a couple!

The art museum lead to a Hocking Hills hiking trips a few months later. After a weekend together, it was clear they were inseparable and the two made it official!

Katie and Logan’s shared love for parks continued through out their relationship. The couple planned a trip to Banff National Park and Logan planned a surprise proposal. But, covid happened. Katie and Logan had to cancel the trip but Logan wasn’t ready to give up. He suggested a trip to Cuyahoga National Park. They headed to the waterfall when they arrived. As Katie was soaking in the beauty of the waterfall, Logan was preparing to pop the big question. She called to Logan that she was ready to move on. Before she could move, Logan called her name and asked her those four special words!

Katie and Logan’s love for the outdoors carried through to their wedding day.  They celebrated the beginning of their marriage in a backyard ceremony with tree lined backdrop.  After exchanging personal vows written to each other, guests were invited to a local winery, Otter’s Creek, to enjoy the beautiful fall day with friends and family.  As a huge bonus, we were able to spend the majority of their portrait time in the winery with rows and rows of vines!  It is always such a treat to photograph at a vineyard!

After the winery, it was a family affair as guests headed back to a family friend’s house for the reception.  Guests were greeted wtih appetizers from Tortilla’s food truck.  Walter, one of Tortilla’s founding members, is like family and had everyone raving about the delicious entrees.  Family friends baked their favorite desserts to treat the couple after cake cutting and before the dance floor packed in for the night.

Katie & Logan – what an honor it was to spend the day celebrating you and the beginning of your marriage!  The love you each possess for each other is so evident.  Thank you for inviting me to be apart of your day!
