McFerson Commons | Columbus, Ohio Wedding Photographer

I had the opportunity to photograph the sweetest downtown Columbus, Ohio proposal in mid March! As Ohio weather goes, the week was full of warm temperatures but as Saturday drew near the temperatures dropped and the wind picked up speed. Even with the chilly weather, it was the perfect day to celebrate Alex and Bella as they enter into their engagement and one step closer to saying “I do”!

I first met Alex during our video call to discuss the plans and logistics of his upcoming proposal. Alex also had the help of his future sister in law to help coordinate the big plan! Alex, Megan and I aligned on the plan, exchanged information and anxiously awaited the big day.

A few hours before the proposal, I received a text from Megan that there was an unexpected event at the original planned location. We quickly pivoted and decided to move the proposal to McFerson Commons in the Arena District of downtown Columbus, Ohio. There were no scheduled events that day so the area was quieter than usual (perfect!).

I arrived early and found a hiding place to stay clear of Bella’s line of sight as they approached the arch. Bella’s family accompanied her and Alex. The story was to spend the evening as a family together with dinner in downtown. After taking turns “posing” for pictures, it was Alex and Bella’s turn for their picture. Alex moved into place and dropped to one knee to ask Bella to marry him!! Bella was shocked!! She wasn’t expecting a proposal until summer and couldn’t believe a picture together turned into her proposal story!

Alex’s family joined in to celebrate the newly engaged couple before everyone headed to dinner. While the family waited for dinner reservations at Milestone 229, Bella and Alex braved the cold weather with me. I can’t say enough how amazing Bella and Alex were during portraits! The temperatures were below freezing and they were radiating as we grabbed celebration portraits to document their big day!
